FAQs
FloodGuard motor insurance covers damages caused by floods, inundation, storms and tempests, i.e. if your car gets caught in an area of deep water caused by flooding or heavy rain.
However, if your car gets damaged for reasons aside from a storm – like getting stuck in a sand dune, beach, wadi or man-made body of water – we won’t cover it.
We offer two loss limits: AED 25,000 and AED 50,000. Choose the one that works best for you!
- It’s private and for personal use. If you have a car under your own company, make sure that it’s for private and leisure purposes only.
- It’s 3rd party insured by any insurance provider, not just AFNIC. If you switch to comprehensive insurance at any point before or after getting FloodGuard, we won’t cover you anymore.
- It has 4 wheels, so a saloon, 4×4, SUV or station wagon.
If your car is a saloon, 4×4, SUV or a station wagon, we’ll cover it. We don’t cover commercial vehicles, trucks, pickups, buses, motorcycles, taxis or any vehicles used for hire or reward (even if it’s got 4 wheels).
We recommend getting FloodGuard as soon as possible, wayyy ahead of a bad
weather forecast. Your FloodGuard policy needs 15 days to take effect, so if it rains or
storms within that waiting period, you’ll only be covered from the 16th day onwards.
(Trust us, you don’t want to take the risk!)
Nope, FloodGuard only covers non-agency repair. We don’t do repairs at car dealerships or agency service centres.
Here are your options:
- If the market value of your car at the time of accident is 125% of the chosen Loss Limit or higher, the policy covers you for 100% of the chosen Loss Limit in the event of Total Loss. Salvage will be taken over by the company.
- If the market value of your car at the time of accident is 150% of the chosen Loss Limit or higher, the policy covers you for 100% of the chosen Loss Limit in the event of Total Loss (as above). Salvage will be taken over by the company. Alternatively, in this case, you have the option to seek settlement of the claim on Cash Loss basis instead, in which case the repair cost payable shall not exceed 50% of your chosen Loss Limit. Further, you don’t need to hand over to us your car as salvage, regardless of whether the vehicle is repaired or not.
- Avoid causing more damage to your car. When trapped in waterlogged roads, do not attempt to restart the engine if it stops running.
- Take photos of your car at the site of the accident.
- Call us at 800-AFNIC (without waiting for the police report) and follow the instructions given by our representative.
- Tell our claims department either at 800-AFNIC, through email or over WhatsApp.
